Principal Software Engineer, Payload Analytics

MuleSoft sits at the heart of all convergent technologies trends (SaaS, big data, APIs, microservices, etc.), and our Analytics team reliably ingests high volume streams of data from multiple systems, enriching that data, processing it, and providing real-time queries, visualizations, insights, alerts, and other useful products from it. This is a challenging position that requires an understanding of how to build reliable at-least-once delivery systems, even in the face of immense load spikes and multiple internal/external failures. You will be working on a new product vertical that takes MuleSoft to the next level and your work will make a direct impact to MuleSoft revenue growth.

What youll achieve:

3 months:

  • Become familiar the MuleSoft business
  • Become familiar with payload analytics use cases for MuleSoft
  • Participate in software development of data services and platform in payload analytics
  • Interact with MuleSoft customer in POC or customer feedback session

12 months:

  • Become the owner of MuleSoft Payload Analytics product
  • Become the go-to person with industry knowledge on payload analytics both functionally and technically
  • Mentor junior teammates and help manager build a bar-raising team

What youll need to be successful

  • 10+ years industry experience
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Solid background in computer science, data structures, complexity, contention, threads, multi-layered caching, queueing, SOA, REST APIs
  • Strong grasp of multi-threaded programming, non-blocking IO, and distributed algorithms
  • Strong knowledge of storage layout algorithms: row based, column based, hash indexing, tree indexing
  • Prolific Java coder with ability to trace, understand, and debug someone elses code without documentation
  • SQL guru with understanding of query planning and execution strategies such as hash join, merge join, distributed hash join
  • Experience with data modeling, data ETL, OLAP, schema design a plus
  • Experience with deployment and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Salt, and other build/deploy systems
  • Hands on experience with Cassandra, Apache Drill a plus
  • Collaborative, with good communication skills and experience with code reviews, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
