Role Summary:

The Software Developer collaborates in the development, improvement and maintenance of internal vertical and external business applications and software systems to meet evolving requirements of the product line.

Role Priorities / Responsibilities:

  • Identify needs of the customer that can be answered by improving current systems and/or creating new systems
  • Perform software/system performance analysis, engineering trade-off analysis and feasibility studies, proof-of-concept prototypes to explore technical implementation options and issues, technical design and implementation
  • Maintain and improve existing systems
  • Create development standards that will ease future system modifications
  • Create, maintain, and proactively build the IoT portal and associated deployments
  • Test and document software for client applications
  • Create standard templates and code libraries to allow faster development
  • Continuously aware of the business and brings fresh ideas to the table

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, debug, unit test, and refactor code
  • Able to determine what code is necessary to achieve specified functionality
  • Knowledgeable in the software development lifecycle
  • Skilled in the use of libraries and frameworks
  • Able to effectively use modern IDEs with an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses
  • Ability to quickly and easily integrate, and create APIs, in a secure and authenticated manner, for internal and external integrations
  • Strong analysis skills
  • Knowledgeable in software configuration management, continuous integration, automated deployments, and static code analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to track and communicate project status and problems to management and users
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
  • Ability to work in a group/team environment
  • Ability to accept responsibility for assignments and follow them through
  • Ability to learn on the job tasks and training efficiently and quickly
  • Ability to teach and share knowledge with peers
